Cowboys trade DT Solomon Thomas to Tennessee Titans
5:50 p.m. -- New Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker said in his introductory press conference that stopping the run and getting after the quarterback were two cornerstones of his defense. A lot of both of those things begins on the defensive line.
The Cowboys appear to be making some changes to their defensive front on Wednesday. After trading Osa Odighizuwa to the 49ers, Dallas has also traded Solomon Thomas to the Titans along with a seventh-round pick swap. Dallas now has the 218th overall pick, with the Titans acquiring the 225th pick.
Thomas, 30, signed with the Cowboys before the 2025 season and now will go to Tennessee to play for two of his former coaches. Defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton, who coached the Cowboys' defensive line with Thomas last season, and new Titans head coach Robert Saleh, who was the head coach of the Jets while Thomas played in New York.
The Cowboys' defensive tackle room will now consist of Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark, Jay Toia, and free agent nose tackle Otito Ogbonnia, who the team agreed to terms with on Tuesday.
Osa Odighizuwa traded to San Francisco 49ers for third-round pick
5:35 p.m. -- The Cowboys ended the 2025 season with Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark and Osa Odighizuwa headlining the defensive tackles on the roster.
Now going into 2026, that will change. The Cowboys have traded Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick.
Odighizuwa, 27, signed a four-year, $80 million deal with the Cowboys in March of 2025. Now, he'll reunite with former Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, who has joined the 49ers staff according to multiple reports.
The Cowboys now acquire the 92nd overall pick in the NFL Draft from San Francisco. Originally, Dallas did not have a third-round pick in this year's draft after trading it to the Steelers for George Pickens before the 2025 season.
A former Cowboy returning for second stint?
10:25 a.m. – While the Cowboys have made five external additions in free agency up to this point, their sixth could be a homecoming.
According to reports, the Cowboys have agreed to terms to bring back OLB Tyrus Wheat.
Wheat, 26, returns to Dallas after signing with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2023. In two seasons with the Cowboys, Wheat played in 20 games and recorded 17 tackles and half a sack.
Last season for the Lions, Wheat played in 15 games, posting career highs in tackles (15) and sacks (1.5) as well as adding a forced fumble and pass breakup.
More movement to create cap space?
7:30 a.m. – As the new NFL league year gets set to begin at 3:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday, the Cowboys are continuing to work their space in the salary cap.
According to reports, Dallas has restructured WR Jonathan Mingo's contract heading into the 2026 season.
Mingo is heading into the final year of his rookie deal, and has spent the last year and a half with the Cowboys. In 14 games played, Mingo has caught six passes for 71 yards.
At the trade deadline in 2025, the Cowboys traded a fourth-round pick to the Panthers for Mingo and a seventh-round pick.
