FRISCO, Texas — Operating on a short week as they prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles following the blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the TV made several roster moves to try and bolster the team as the defending champs prepare to visit.

They decided to move on from linebacker Damone Clark, a talented former fifth-round pick that got off to a hot start to his NFL career after overcoming fusion surgery in his neck, but unfortunately cooled noticeably in the post-Dan Quinn era as the Cowboys moved to Mike Zimmer and now Matt Eberflus; and is now subject to NFL waivers.

"I want to really emphasize how much Damone means to me," said head coach Brian Schottenheimer. "What an incredible young man he is. In my conversation with him, I said, "Hey man, your career is just getting started, and sometimes change is good.' I really do believe that, that's not bullsh-t. That's what I truly believe.

"I think you have to handle things the right way, and this gives him a chance to find a home and get excited."

The addition of Logan Wilson via trade also combines with the return of DeMarvion Overshown, the emergence of rookie linebacker Shemar James and the presence of second-year talent Marist Liufau to make for a young, capable room that Schottenheimer "really loves" going forward.

The vacant roster spot was filled quickly by the activation of Perrion Winfrey from injured reserve, a former All-UFL talent moved to IR just ahead of the season, but having returned to practice recently and made excellent strides in his rehab, has now been given the green light to join a defensive tackles depth chart headlined by Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark (six Pro Bowls between the two), Osa Odighizuwa, Solomon Thomas and rookie Jay Toia.

And, suddenly, one of the most needy positions on the roster is arguably the strongest.

Additional transactions for Dallas on Tuesday included the decision to waive Wesley French from the practice squad, having been with the Cowboys a very short period of time, and waiving/injured tight end John Stephens Jr. with an injury settlement.
